Trauma to Transformation
Trauma to Transformation
HI everyone, I am a creative counselor and I offer a unique blend of healing therapies and art media during your counseling experience. In 2011, I completed my master’s degree in Counseling from Sam Houston State University, with an emphasis on marriage and family counseling. I am a certified teacher, certified school counselor, and have held many positions in private, public and prison school systems. I specialize in treating motivated individuals, couples and families that are suffering with anxiety and depression from trauma, loss and transitional issues. Sometimes a person may feel "stuck" and it can be overwhelming. I use a variety of art media, mindfulness and movement to help clients shift their thoughts, emotions into healthy ones.
My main mode of therapy is EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing).
My focus is to help individuals heal, energize, and become aware of their inner strengths. In the counseling session, we will create a confidential, safe space where a collaborative treatment goal will be established. True healing involves body, soul and spirit.
There is health, beauty and wholeness within each person.
Neuroscience is validating the need for a spiritual connection with our creator. The "full benefits package of the gospel of Jesus Christ" is a necessity for true shift to happen.

Art of Transformation Workshops are interactive workshops that are designed to improve mindful self awareness while using art media. Incorporated into the sessions are body mapping, mindfulness and guided imagery. The free flowing kinesthetic drawings are repetitive and restorative in nature as they provide opportunity for bilateral cross-hemisphere activity to stimulate the brain. The activity helps foster reconnecting thinking with feeling in the art making process as the participant moves to shift and resolve and appreciate being alive.
"One of the clearest lessons from contemporary neuroscience is that our sense of ourselves is anchored in a vital connection with our bodies. We so not truly know ourselves unless we can feel and interpret our physical sensations, we need to register and act on these sensations to navigate safely through life. While numbing (for compensatory sensation seeking) make life tolerable, the price you pay is that you lose awareness of what is going on inside your body and with that, the sense of being fully, sensually alive." The Body Keeps the Score, Besel Van der Kolt.
"I now go beyond other people's fears and limitations, I create my wonderful life!"
Individuals can experience symptoms associated with painful and traumatic circumstances. Anxiety, fear, and hopelessness are the emotional residue after trauma occurs. We can help you overcome these symptoms and guide you through the process of grief and healing by using this effective component of mindfulness, guided imagery, bilateral tapping and experiential presence of Christ.
"Transformation is the way out of trauma!"
We are created as relational beings. Our neuro-pathways are hardwired to search for relationships. Sometimes we find, however that our relationships are not satisfying and unhealthy. Relationship counseling can be beneficial to couples who are looking to strengthen their emotional connection, in all stages of their relationship.
I offer couples counseling and one day intensives for those needing one last shot.
Instead of divorce, try our Day of Hope, Marriage Intensive.
During this intensive, you will assess the commitment levels of your marriage, the emotional connection of you and your partner and take a peak at your passion levels. The couples that commit to this one day workshop will explore past hurts and try out new ways of seeing and communicating with one another in a safe environment. Divorce is an expensive and emotionally exhaustive process. Please consider your marriage and give this one day intensive an opportunity to help transform and gently restore direction for your marriage with goals. Use this time to be curious about what happened and create a safe space for empathy to flourish. Come and learn new ways of communicating that restore trust, explore problem relational patterns that lead to despair. Your love story requires courage and determination to find the wholeness that it deserves.
"I am safe and secure, I am willing to give up old patterns that do not support me!"
